Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Mar 15, 2009 5:03 pm I know this may seem like a silly question, but what have people been doing in their bathrooms with soap holders and storage for shampoo bottles? I just realised that on our colour selection their are no soap holders included near any bath or in any shower. It made me realise I hadn't even thought about this before. In our current home we keep our shampoo on the floor. A nice storage place would be good, however if we need it tiled in we will have to decide now. I've tried looking for inspiration on home building websites, but no-one takes photos inside the shower. Any photos of modern ideas or just ideas about what to do would be greatly appreciated. We have to decide by Thursday 19th March as that is when our tender appointment is. Thanks for your help! Re: Shower and bath accessories 2Mar 15, 2009 5:08 pm For the soap holder in the shower, I went with the same model as my towel rail.
I'm going to do glass shelves in my shower instead of a shower caddy. Something like this: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Custom build! Re: Shower and bath accessories 4Mar 15, 2009 5:13 pm put in after handover - screwed into tiles.

Shampoo etc in the main bathroom will have to go on the floor unless I add something like the above later on down the track... but that shower wont really be used anyway so not a huge issue for me 'A bottle of wine contains more philosophy than all the books in the world.' The shower gel and the shampoo and conditioner is just on one of those over the shower spout caddies that you get from hardware stores. That's what I currently use, the soap holder doesn't get used here either. I think though that with the shower rails you can't hang them over it... although could over the side of the shower screen I spose. I'm not sure what you mean by "with the shower rails" , we have a standard shower head and it fits over that. I do agree that built in niches are nice though - unfortunatley didn't think of that at the time Re: Shower and bath accessories 11Mar 15, 2009 6:07 pm Our builder refused to do a niche, as if they are not done right they can leak water over time and damage your bathroom.
The glass shelves are added in after the tiling is done, we got a quote of about $30 for the shelf and $30 for installation. ' Another thing to think about is a step, to put your foot on when shaving your legs or just washing. These steps are provided by your tile supplier, and need to be put in when the tiling is done. I have attached a photo where you can see the step down the bottom. Did you have to pay extra for this (if so how much?) or was this already included in your plans? They are standard in our design. Fingers crossed they will be made well and won't leak!! I went to the Packers place, as promised, he is the one that said your best bet is to get one from the Tile supplier and have it put in with the tiles. They only do crome/glass shelves, not crome ones. Sorry and the image again for those who can't be bothered to go back a page. and because I really want to find out whose bathroom it is.
