I am hoping that you all can give me your comments/opinions on these two colours - White vanity bench or darkbrown vanity bench? Which one do u think looks nicer? I like them both and cant decide. I would prefer those that can stay 'looked as new' longer Option A - white Option B - darkbrown Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Thanks and happy to discuss =) Williams Landing Stage 10 - Kingwell Neighbourhood Re: Which colour should I go with? If you do, go with the dark so they stand out. I like the dark top with the contrast of the basins. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Photos attached! 4Mar 08, 2009 9:35 pm Light coloured tops - show more makeup if you are like me and tend to fling it around Also if you go for square edge laminate then the substrate shows at the corner (meaning you can see the dark line on the corners - not a big deal but you can't notice it on the dark colour)
Dark colours - show more toothpaste if you or your kids are likely to fling that around. I like both your pics! Photos attached! 7Mar 08, 2009 10:44 pm I like both, but the white one looks more like a vanity...the dark one looks to me like a nice hall buffet with basins in it
l have white vanities though now and l am stunned constantly as to how much of my mineral make-up ends up on it and yes, toothpaste (the blue gel one) from my DS's ...As such my new house ain't having white benchtops at all Re: Which colour should I go with? Photos attached! 8Mar 09, 2009 6:07 am I agree with Judie - the darker top will date more quickly.
I prefer the white, JMO. Re: Which colour should I go with? Photos attached! 9Mar 09, 2009 8:35 am Why is everyone so worried about things dating????
Everything dates.... and I actually think the top one looks dated already, becasue it is a look that has been around for ever and done to death. It seems that we have got more votes for the white benchtop. How about scratch marks? Will they be more obvious on the white or dark brown vanity bench? Donuts - you were saying that the substrate will you on the corners of the white tops. Is this very clear and can make the bench look odd? We are consindering for square edge designer white gloss surface. Wish that we could afford to upgrade it to caesarstone bench. (I think snow will look great with the cabinet) =) But well, we are taking it one step at a time Williams Landing Stage 10 - Kingwell Neighbourhood Re: Which colour should I go with? Photos attached! 11Mar 09, 2009 8:56 am Joles I'm with you! First one looks done to death, if anything, that looks dated and boring to me - having said that - thats just my opinion. I personally love the second one. Its only a cabinet top, so in ten years time if and when its dated, get it replaced, surely not a huge cost.
The white one looks pretty plain, hence the reason why the display home jazzed it up with a million colourful things. What finish is it? I absolutely hate white laminate benches with that black line along the edging if its got that. I'd go in to the display and take everything off the bench to see it in plain view. FND, is there a look that you currently like better than the other? ICK So glad the building is over, never again. Loooove our house, but still not quite sure it was worth all of the stress they put us through! Re: Which colour should I go with? Go out on a limb and do something stylish and modern. Fresh and new! The dark colour isn't that extravagant or "period" looking that it would date that easily anyway if you know what I mean. Re: Which colour should I go with? Photos attached! 14Mar 09, 2009 11:42 am Thanks for the opinions peepz.
I can see from people's opinions that each colour has its own good and bad. There is no clear winner here. To me, both of them look great, thats why its not a clear cut for me to choose. Hopefully I can get some more comments on this. At the moment it is a close race. White vanity vs dark brown vanity Now I have to really think hard- Do we use more toothpaste or make up ? However, we already take note that if we go for the white colour one, we will be able to see the black line along the edging (as we will be choosing the square edge). I will definitely go to the display again and have a hard look Williams Landing Stage 10 - Kingwell Neighbourhood Re: Which colour should I go with? Photos attached! 16Mar 09, 2009 11:50 am You may also want to consider the water marks you will see on the dark tops and not so much on the light. Even if it dries you will still see little water rings as there is calcium in our water and it leaves marks until you wipe them up.
If you go for the squareform laminate yoy won't see the black line edge as the laminate wraps around the top. Re: Which colour should I go with? Photos attached! 17Mar 09, 2009 11:57 am Do you have two bathrooms?
If so, you could do what we did and compromise. We chose dark tops over light cupboards for the main bathroom and simply reversed it in the ensuite (dark cupboards with light benchtop). Just another idea for you, if you really can't decide Cheers, Dee ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Our BLOG: http://buildingourdreams.blogspot.com/ Building the 'DEE 257.9' Contract signed 08/09/08.
