Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Mar 07, 2007 7:54 pm The bathroom reno has reached the slow and tedious stage now. We put the new ceiling in at the weekend, cut all the holes for lights etc and I've started the patching of joints etc. The splashback/showerscreen guy came today and measured everything so now it's a case of waiting until that's all fitted before I can finish fixing tiles and architraves, and then tile the floor.
The pics are up: www.flickr.com/photos/clancy_n I have a couple of questions for those so inclined. When I get around to painting the ceiling, is there a primer I should be using on raw plaster...perhaps mould resistant? The top coat will be a moisture resistant white ceiling paint. The second one is a colour related one so...Michelle, where are you. The original door and window frames are currently the old brown stain. I will be painting them instead and thought either white, or perhaps a grey of some sort to tie in with the grey tile strip and the stainless fitting. Any advice or ideas anyone? I would use a mould resistant paint; I’m petty sure now there are paints out there that paint and seal at the same time. Check at your paint store. I would stay with a white ceiling and walls – “full gloss”. This will make you’re your strip tile more obvious and dominate, which is the whole point of having a feature tile. Also keeping the room lighter and larger looking. Add colour with some nice new towels - for the new bathroom! (If you have any money left!!!) This is all you will need. Keep up the good work, can’t wait to see the glass splashback…….
