Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Feb 02, 2009 7:02 pm I really like this all aqua bathroom, but worried it may not complement the bathroom/laundry areas which will primarily be off-white, with accents of chocolate and latte. NOTE: When you get into the page, scroll all the way down to the bottom and then go up to the 7th last pic (the one with latte rug).
http://www.houseofturquoise.com/search/label/Bathroom I'm also worried it may date? Or is it classic? The alternative bathroom scheme is this one: http://www.reece.com.au/great/australian/bathrooms/35 http://www.reece.com.au/great/australian/bathrooms/34 What do you think? Please be honest. TIA Re: Aqua Bathroom 2Feb 02, 2009 7:06 pm I have to say…..I don’t like the Aqua one, and will it date?
Too late, it already has! No matter what you do it will date, but it WILL come back. I like the clean lines of the ones from Reece. I love the design, I even like the colour, and if that's what you love, then absolutely do it. My only concern would be resale - not that it might date, more that people wouldn't love that colour, so they wouldn't want that much of it in the 1 room. Hope that's remotely helpful! Solidarity, not solidity.......The Lexicon of Life Re: Aqua Bathroom 4Feb 02, 2009 7:10 pm Yep, I love the Reece one. That has been my first choice for a long time now, but started doubting myself....thought I was being a bit 'safe'.
I think I'll just stick with using aqua as accents in the house e.g. towels, linen etc. Really appreciate your feedback Michelle. Yep, the re-sale thing is important, and it did cross my mind that it would probably NOT appeal to a lot of people.
I've always been someone to do things outside of the square, and I thought I could apply it here too (with the bathroom). Unfortunately, once it's in, it's in and you can't change your mind. Your advice WAS very helpful. Thanks. Re: Aqua Bathroom 7Feb 02, 2009 9:12 pm I just love the colour aqua - or any variation of that bluey/green! Love that blog you recommended too!
As for the 7th last pic, I think it's over the top... and it is really personal taste, so as mentioned above, you need to think of re-sale. I noticed a lot of the pics in that site only had the aqua colour on the wall, and a pillow or two. So this is easily changed, but tiles, hmmmm, that's a bit more tricky. I think your idea of using it as an accent colour is fantastic, and I may in a room or two of mine! As for the reece bathrooms, they are both great, obviously more neutral which is a wise choice for so many reasons! Good luck Annie A thankful person is a happy person. I really appreciate your honesty. The more I look at that pic, the more it worries me how much aqua there is in it. So, you've all convinced me...I should stick to my original choice. And to be honest, I feel more comfortable about that choice!! Re: Aqua Bathroom 9Feb 05, 2009 10:04 am Ooh, I'm going to play the devil's advocate and say that I LIKE the aqua;
I don't think it hurts to be bold - assuming a high standard of renovation with quality appliances and components, I suspect that you prob won't hurt your resale prospects too much. My wife and I were in the market for a nicely renovated house in town last year, and whilst there were plenty of new renovations to be had, after seeing a few we realised that they all looked the same... Neat. Clean. Neutral. Inoffensive. Forgettable. Characterless. Generic. In the end, we wound up with a 1950s cottage that needs a lot of work, but at least we'll be able to make it suit us - once we can drum up some cash for the renovations Consider also that whilst home buyers at the moment are primarily baby boomers an Gen-X'ers, by the time you get around to selling your current home the market will be flooded with Gen-Y'ers and Gen-Next'ers - and I'm sure these post-MTV kids will be looking for something with a bit more flair! For example, in our case, we are planning on a completely white bathroom and bathroom/laundry reno, with a loud tiled feature wall in each; I've managed to pick up a good quantity of Bisazza Begonia glass mosaic tiles on eBay.au for an absolute song: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I think doing the entire bathroom in Begonia mosaic like this is prob a bit much, but hope just the single feature wall in a white bathroom will be just right. Re: Aqua Bathroom 12Feb 05, 2009 5:46 pm f3nr15,
I totally get what you're saying. I've seen so many of the same type of bathroom over the past couple of years (in showrooms and mags) that I was getting really frustrated. Couldn't find anything that was a bit different, without being too modern. When I saw the aqua bathroom recently, I immediately fell in love with it. It just complements my personality, my love for greens and blues, and it's pretty, too! The only 2 things that are stopping me from going the 'aqua' route is: 1) Maybe I would get a bit sick of it after a while - aqua overload? 2) My husband doesn't want a white vanity or tiling in the bathroom. Having lived with 4 brothers and 1 hairy greek husband, I tend to agree strongly with No.2! It's a hard one...but I think I've got to be sensible. Still can't delete the aqua pic from my desktop though! Re: Aqua Bathroom 13Feb 07, 2009 9:50 pm Haha, I can empathize with hairy
Now I'll have to rethink my white bathroom idea... Anyway, thought I would link the aqua bathroom in here for the record: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Another reason that I like this is bec it's a modern interpretation of the 1950s egg-shell blue/green bathrooms.
