Started to pull up the tiles in my toilet to replace them as they looked like crap and the floor was uneven and found about 3 inches maybe more of very sandy cement on top of the concrete slab. I think there maybe a layer of cement over the slab as well not 100% sure until we pull up the rest of the tiles now. Does anyone have any idea what the hell this is? It looks like they raised the floor with a poorly mixed yellow sand cement mix or something.
Should we re raise the floor? or Keep it level and have a sunken toilet?
Update: instead of extending the pvc drain pipe to the new level of floor they extended it with mortar. The drain pipe ended up clogged with sandy cement and mortar.
The stuff around the toilet is more sandy and gets harder as it gets further away from the toilet. I think it may be water damage. The water damage hasnt spread to the walls though.
