I'm at the start of my bathroom renovation and I have designed a fairly small rectangular shower base that's about to have waterproofing done. I've been told the only way to have a shower recess in my flat is to have a step to enter the shower recess area, it needs to be on an upper level due to the set up of the sewerage system in the block. Has anyone had to do something similar?

I take it your flat is 2 levels? And you are trying to put this on the lower level?
Is there any plumbing at the base of this proposed shower?
Some photo's would be good...

If you are on an upper floor, the problem with having a walkthrough shower with no step is that there is no way for the waste to get connected as the plumber will have no access underneath. Also, to get the fall to the waste they need to build it up rather than cut into your floor.
