Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Dec 13, 2008 11:11 pm I have a small bathroom - approx 9 foot by 6 foot. I just have a single light on the roof (middle). I'd like a bathroom where when you stand in front of the mirror to groom yourself all is well illuminated (no shadows). Of course the current simple single light setup is very bad in this way, with half the face in shadow or poor light.
Looking for advise on affordable lighting setups that will work for me... eg where to place lights, will just one fluorescent over the mirror do do etc etc, Thanks Re: Good quality lighting for small bathroom. 3Dec 14, 2008 1:20 pm Have you done a thread search? I find that well placed downlights in thr ceiling work well and are affordable. If you place them 300mm from the wall above the mirror, they will reflect off the mirror onto your face. Other options are wall mounbted like the poctures, but they have a higher cost associated with them. These are available at Beacon lighting, which we use regularly. Because naturally I'm a troll, and need to apply makeup daily before leaving the house, I need good lighting! In my main bathroom I can't do my makeup because there's one ceiling light (oyster) and when I stand near enough to the mirror to see myself, my face is in shadows. In my ensuite, the room is small enough so the one oyster light casts no shadows wherever I am in the room (except the shower), so it's all good, except I have to close the door whenever I put makeup on in there or the natural light from the bedroom comes in and the light is a "confused" mixture of cool natural light and warm artificial light. I hate lights directly above the mirror in bathrooms! They're so harsh on the face. I love downlights in general, but find many hotels use these and I can never quite get a good light to apply makeup with, when there're downlights in the ceiling. What I like is one ceiling light that's attractive, and then 2 small sconce style lights on either side of the mirror. How the hell did I become a senior member!? I know nothing!
