Have you ever seen this design? It was recommended by my builder which I did agree to but I hate it.
It's apparently lots of work to move it now. Is it worth insisting it gets moved next to the tap? There are studs between.

Best to ask your builder for a price first so that you can focus your energy deciding in the known. Remember that there will be a built in “don’t want to do it” factor in the price so expect and inflated estimate. Personally, I agree with you, professionally, it’s a terrible solution.
