Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Oct 27, 2008 6:33 pm Hi,
We're looking at having the Infinity 26 installed after the house is built, but I've read a few reviews which talk about poor pressure, or hot/cold cycles when used with water saving showerheads. Are there any problems? Is there something particular we should be asking the builders to prevent any problems, or something we can do later down the track? Thanks. Re: Rinnai Infinity and Water Saving Showerheads? 2Oct 27, 2008 9:17 pm My Mum has that system, and there are no problems with water pressure. I do know that her showerhead is an expensive water-saving one (Greens), so that may have something to do with it. I wouldn't hesitate to go with the Infinity.
Judie Re: Rinnai Infinity and Water Saving Showerheads? 3Oct 27, 2008 9:20 pm My parents have one and the water pressure is shocking!!! They also have a water saver and I can't stand having a shower there. I don't know if it is because the water pressure was already bad or if it is a bad system. Re: Rinnai Infinity and Water Saving Showerheads? 4Oct 28, 2008 6:25 am With the infinity or any other continious hot water system it is imperative that you purchase the right one for the right house. My plumber recommended for my house that I get the Rinnai 32 which is much more expensive and does not include the controllers as standard unlike the rinnai 26. My plumber said that due to the size of my house and the amount of bathrooms and how far the water has to travel from the service it would be better for me to install the rinnai 32 especailly when we have kids down the track it will withstand future water use.
My parents have a much smaller one (21) which has shocking water pressure. Showers are useless if the washing machine is on. This has to do with the fact that it is positioned poorly (it was a replacement for another system) and the retailer recommended a system which was insufficent. So the contibuting factors for purchasing are: The amount of bathrooms you have, taking kitchen and laundry into consideration and the distance that the water has to travel. A rinnai 26 should be sufficient if it is a 2 bath house with the kitchen and laundry near by. My house is 55sq and has 3 bath. With time contraints these days there is nothing worse than not being able to use two bathrooms at the same time or have a shower and not being able to use the laundry at the same time. Oh and another heads up, the Bosch cont. hot water system is hopeless. We have it at home as well as in 2 rentals and each system has failed and needed a tech to come out to fix....within 12 months. The rinnai in my opinion is much a much more superior system. Re: Rinnai Infinity and Water Saving Showerheads? 5Oct 28, 2008 9:20 am Here's what Rinnai have to say about selecting the right unit

We've been quoted $1200 - but RRP indicates there should be a difference of about $600
I just spoke with a hot water company - apparently I'll need to upgrade my gas meter, increase the copper pipe size from the meter to the HWS box (at least 15m worth) I've put an enquiry in with the builder - we'll see what comes back. After 4 years - we're in! Re: Rinnai Infinity and Water Saving Showerheads? 7Nov 19, 2008 6:03 pm If the pressure is poor, it's because of either a. an insuffiencent hot water system for the house, b. the water saver shower heads (as they reduce pressure by heaps), or c. a combination of both. Re: Rinnai Infinity and Water Saving Showerheads? 8Nov 20, 2008 5:33 am I am having the same problem...
Our old gas water heater died, so I thought I would be smart and get an instant one as the star rating was very good. I had to get the gas fitter to 'Turn up my pressure" on the gas at first because of the hot and cold problem. All was good again after that, until I had a little water restricter install ready for when we turn this house into an IP. Now it is very bad again, I get in the shower and it's on for maybe a minute, then goes cold, I have to turn the hot tap right off and back on again to get any hot water, then it's boiling and I have to wait for it to calm down again before I get under again... this cycle can happen 3 or 4 times in the space of a few minutes, and it doesn't seem to mater how much cold water I turn on when this hot cycle is happening, it won't cool down until it's ready. I have the plumbers certificate to say he installed this thing, I might just take the little restricter out and pretend it's there! I know our tenants will be complaining bitterly if we leave it like that If you choke a smurf... what colour do they turn? I know our tenants will be complaining bitterly if we leave it like that Seems like the restricter is restricting the water flow rate way too much causing the water in the unit to stay in there longer. I believe the units have a shut off when water reaches a certain temp causing your cold surges. I hope that makes sense brokers will also be in a position to get you a better rate than the advertised rate most times. 6 6103 This certainly doesn't look good. I would be engaging with an independent inspector to have a look at this. As for the unscheduled site visits, most builders are quite… 1 21913 Grab a hose, insert it at the top of the inlet/down pipe and turn the water on and see where the water is escaping from. Then you'll know. 3 6341 |
