Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Feb 09, 2023 10:04 pm So I’ve had my bathroom renovated by a building company no more than 1-2 years ago and for the most part it’s fine but I have noticed one particular spot of grout that’s unusual. It’s an approximately 1cm portion of grout between two wall tiles located outside the shower and it seems to be slowly ‘bubbling’ out over time. I first noticed it a few months ago (but given its low to the floor location it could have started much earlier) and at that time I did wipe my finger over it to flatten it back down. Just now I noticed it had ‘bubbles’ again and I had a closer look. The patch of grout affected does seem to be softer than the surrounding grout and I did note after touching it that it oddly smelled faintly of vinegar. I’ve tried googling but haven’t had any luck because all I’m getting is results about cleaning grout with diluted vinegar. If anyone knows what’s going on with this, how I can fix it and if I should contact the builders who put the bathroom together to come back and sort it out that would be great. I am wondering if a mistake was made with the grout as I believe they had an apprentice working here in the bathroom on the day the grout was done.
