Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Mar 30, 2021 10:43 pm Hi, we are at the final stage of the built here in Geelong. We have asked for a laundry bench as an addition. Thebench is now complete and I noticed that the height is escatly 85 cms and there is no drain connection made is suitable for top loader. Should the height be the cause of worry as most of the front loading m/cs have a height of 85 cm. Also should the builder not take care of the drain point suitable for front loading m/c considering that we have a laundry bench? Thanks for your valuable comments. Re: Allowance for the Front load washing m/c 2Mar 31, 2021 8:06 am The builder needs to take care to ensure the house is built as per the plan and contract. What is on the plan? 3in1 Supadiverta. Rainwater Harvesting Best Practice using syphonic drainage. Cleaner Neater Smarter Cheaper Supa Gutter Pumper. A low cost syphonic eaves gutter overflow solution. Re: Allowance for the Front load washing m/c 3Mar 31, 2021 10:20 am SaveH2O is correct, the builder will build to the plan. If the bench top is installed at 900 high and is 40mm thick then you allow for 10mm tile the 850 sounds about right. Is it a bit low? Probably. I normally go for bench height around 920 from tiles just to make sure. You should just fit under as long as the floor isn't graded up too much under the bench. Ideally you should have a 700mm deep bench in the laundry as well. WM are only 600 deep but you need space for the hoses behind. The drain and the water inlet is in the laundry cabinet. There should be a hole drilled in the side of the cabinet so the hoses pass through into the cabinet. Yes, as Chippy has pointed out the floor plan shows a height of 910 mm. However, as I measured it, the total available height after leaving the bench thickness is exactly 85mm. So, I am worrying as to how that would work out. The cabinet maker has drilled a hole in the side of the cabinet for the inlet pipe. However, the sink is fitted with a drain hole and dedicated pipe attached to the sink drain which is most suitable for the top-loading machine's drain pipe. I think the builder should have considered that once the bench is built in the laundery, that space only suits for front-loading m/cs. Re: Allowance for the Front load washing m/c 5Mar 31, 2021 11:32 pm Your drain will attach to the trap under the sink. You will have to drill out the spigot and the drain attaches to it. You should just be ok with the height. Is it exactly 850mm or hopefully a smidgen more. Bosch WM are 848mm high so hopefully you will fit.
