Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Mar 12, 2021 2:21 pm Hi Recently bought new home, as per building inspection report; Shower Base - Drummy. The shower base appears to have been installed defectively and/or water or moisture has made ingress under the shower base or it has been installed defectively. This hollow type sound with my experience tells me that the base is Drummy ( not solid ) The term `drummy` refers to a shower base becoming detached from its fixing and/or the shower base did not have the base covered properly with a cement type base and there is air pockets under the base. I try to figure out myself to find the hollow type sound but looks alright for me, as lot of issue mentioned in the report are not correct infect, builder is willing to rectify other issues mentioned in report except this as he is saying this is alright and if their was any such issue, it should be more visible by now as its 2 years property. Should I hire a plumber to give me second opinion that will cost me $220? any advise will be highly appreciated. Thanks Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ . I have seen poly marble shower bases last in excess of 30 years 1 4504 I've filled, levelled and compacted around 100mm of roadbase in preparation to lay some outdoor court tiles. Prior to doing the final compaction, I dusted the top with… 0 3044 I'll look into different shower heads and ask the plumber about some engineering and see what he says. Thanks 2 9564 |
