Attempting to install a new toilet in an older-style (post-war) house, and the new toilet outlet is a lot smaller than the old one. The old floor pipe appears to be lead. Are there adaptors that will allow us to install the new toilet onto the old outlet? Or do we have to replace the old outlet pipe as well? The old lead pipe has a outside diameter of approximately 150mm,and the old toilet outlet pipe is approximately 125mm.The new toilet has a outlet pipe of 100mm. I will attach a picture of the toilet. Its looking like I will have to get plumber to do the job rather than doing it my self Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Installing new toilet 2Oct 11, 2008 7:46 pm Was a couple of years ago that I did the same thing.
I can remember that the PVC fitting actually fitted surprisingly well to the lead outlet, and it's because it is lead you can form it quite easily. Wall thickness of the lead is about 8mm if I remember correctly. Replacement is not too difficult if there's another toilet in the house. If it is the only one, it is harder but still not impossible - just need to prepare everything before you take out the old one, and work fast until you get to the stage where you can fit the PVC fitting and the new toilet temporarily. I doubt that it is a lead pipe, as standard in that time of building they used cast iron. Built with Bentley homes in Doreen All moved in Dec 2009 Now for the garden!
