Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry Re: Best thing to clean clear shower screens? 21Oct 12, 2008 8:33 pm Really?? Hmm. I'll give it a try.
I think what also annoys me (well, not so much ANNOYS, but frustrates me a bit) is whatever I use, including the Magic White sponge, it tends to leave tiny bits of fluff on the screen. It bothers me. lol How the hell did I become a senior member!? I know nothing! Re: Best thing to clean clear shower screens? 22Oct 13, 2008 7:12 am Hi Grace
What is left behind is what we call ecthing there is nothing that can be done now this is why we tell our customers to seal when new. Most of the showers we get are very bad we tell all our customers that 10% will always remain as it has etched the glass. Craig Re: Best thing to clean clear shower screens? 24Oct 13, 2008 7:38 am Yes you sure can I have had mine sealed for over 6 years now no etching at all still looks brand new easier to clean just have to use a neutral cleaner for maintenance. There are many products out there the top 2 are
Nanokote from www.nanokote.com.au expensive stuff $77 for 100 mls when it gets to you it is $115.00 due to dangerous goods transport if you live in Sydney you can pick up. Glass Sealer from Sonitron which we now use a lot cheaper and does the same thing. Craig Re: Best thing to clean clear shower screens? 25Oct 13, 2008 12:43 pm There is also another sealer called Enduro Shield. http://www.enduroshield.com/ This is $59.95 and I have just sealed my new shower with it last week. I have yet to use this shower and I only hope it works out.
By the way; we do have another shower so the lack of use is not a reflection on our level of cleanliness - merely my phobia about getting the new glass dirty. Re: Best thing to clean clear shower screens? 26Oct 13, 2008 4:48 pm Etchings, eh? That doesn't sound good.
I was in the shower today, and this is where the marks show up, once the shower screen gets steamy. I rubbed the area and it's all on the inside of the screen, and they go away if I rub really hard, but then seem to come back...blegh. How the hell did I become a senior member!? I know nothing! Re: Best thing to clean clear shower screens? 27Oct 27, 2008 4:50 pm Hi there - I'm new to the website and just came across this message. You could try the microfibre cloths (I think mine is chux brand - it is blue and I bought it from woolies). It works quite well on glass and mirrors etc...Hope this helps! Re: Best thing to clean clear shower screens? 28Oct 27, 2008 5:02 pm Yeah, I actually bought a micro-fibre cloth the other day. It worked quite well on the mirrors, though at first it left lots of little fibres. Little tufts of fluff. They seemed to disappear though after a while.
It did nothing for the shower screen though. Not a single thing! How the hell did I become a senior member!? I know nothing! Re: Best thing to clean clear shower screens? 31Oct 28, 2008 4:58 pm Very Interesting cant wait to hear more, I found a product we a trialling so far so good it is called Hound Dog from www.interclean.com.au you can buy down the Gold Coast as this is where I found it.
Craig Re: Best thing to clean clear shower screens? 32Oct 28, 2008 5:01 pm This is the best I can do, it's also in her book Spotless Cleaning, and of course, it's Shannon Lush, not Sharon:
Halfway down the page: http://today.ninemsn.com.au/article.aspx?id=229019 And I've heard sweet almond oil is also good and probably easier to get. Re: Best thing to clean clear shower screens? 33Oct 30, 2008 4:47 pm Enjo stuff is too expensive. Go to Godfreys and get a microfibre cloth, use it dry and just dampen a small section of it to wipe the glass and dry with the dry part of the cloth. Safeway also sell some.
I clean houses and use them for the mirrors, chrome and glass shower recesses. They do a brilliant job and NO CHEMICALS!!! Gotta love that. It might take a bit of elbow grease if it is pretty grotty to start with but it is worth it. I also use one to clean my glass-top stove and it comes up beautifully, it is specifically for greasy areas though. Lynnie Mum of 4, apprentice renovator Re: Best thing to clean clear shower screens? 34Nov 02, 2008 5:26 pm Yeah, those micro fibre cloths are really.
I think maybe my screen is as clean as it's going to get though...it was clean to start with and still is. There's no actual dirt or grime on it, it's just sort of...not 100% crystal clear in all lights. *perfectionist* How the hell did I become a senior member!? I know nothing! Re: Best thing to clean clear shower screens? 36Nov 03, 2008 12:21 pm Oh yeah, heheh, after the kid’s showers would it be splattered with soap and shampoo and other such things? Lol. The joys of children. How the hell did I become a senior member!? I know nothing! Re: Best thing to clean clear shower screens? 38Feb 08, 2009 3:26 pm QUOTE
scrub and I scrub, and it's all nice and clean, and I use the squeagy thing, but there are STILL little spots and blotches (faintly white-ish in colour) that seem to literally be INSIDE the screen. Like, scrubbing on either side of the screen doesn't seem to touch them. Is this possible? _________________ if its a milky colour it's moisture, water gets between the 2 layers of glass. A chap I know that owned a shower screen company told me it happens with cheap glass. I had the same problem & replaced the screens. Now I use a steam cleaner & CLR cleaner (calcium, lime & rust) available from supermarkets. Really cleans crystal clear. Tried the magic wipes after reading this thread as they do work but not sure if it's only due to not much calcium deposits on the glass.
