Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Sep 30, 2020 3:36 pm Hi guys, a newbie question on waterproofing bathroom. I've stripped existing bathroom tiles and fittings down, including floor tiles and screed underneath. Underneath the screed, there is a rubber like sheet (orange in colour) that's stuck to the concrete floor. I assume that's some kind of old style waterproofing. It's quite hard to remove, as it's stuck snug to the floor, so I've temporarily given up on trying to remove that waterproofing. Fast forward a few days, I got a tiler to come in have a look and give quote, he said it doesn't need to be removed, he'll just waterproof on top of it. I think that means he'll screed first, and waterproof on top of the screed, before laying down the tiles. My question is, is that a robust way of doing things? Usually, I see waterproof being done before the screed? Re: waterproof & screed over existing waterproofing? 2Sep 30, 2020 6:43 pm 3simon Hi guys, a newbie question on waterproofing bathroom. Your moisture barrier is your membrane, it does not matter what is under.
