Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Sep 12, 2020 9:30 am Hi all, I have a BoschWTW87566AU heat pump dryer, and I'm trying to connect its drain hose to a siphon under my laundry sink. The problem is the drain hose is not a standard hose and doesn't fit the siphon. Bosch advised me that it's a European-style hose, and they couldn't help any further. I also contacted the retailer, Reece Plumbing, Bunnings, and a rubber parts store, and none of them could help. The hose has a rubber end with 10mm internal diameter and 16mm external diameter. To connect to the dryer, you simply force it over a smooth cylinder-shaped outlet. To connect the other end to the siphon, they've supplied some kind of hard-plastic adapter with a 13mm diameter tube that the hose stretches onto, and a hard-plastic cone on the other side. See the picture below: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I have two siphons available to connect it to. One has 15mm internal diameter (shown below), and the other has 20mm internal diameter. The instruction manual suggests that the adapter will fit the hose to the siphon, but this probably doesn't apply to Australia: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Does anyone have any ideas about how I could connect the hose to the siphon? Ideally it would be be reversible (eg. using adaptors, hoses, rubber etc) rather than permanent (eg. silicone, glue, cutting into things etc). Any help would be appreciated! You should be able to connect like the picture below. The drain is usually blocked and needs to be drilled out. I did go buy a clamp but didn’t use it. We pushed it over the inlet (ours are different angle to you?). I was a bit worried about the angle of the hose per their instructions but no problems so far. I was tempted to just keep emptying the dryer manually but happy we gave this a go. I do find I still have some water left in the dryer section (it doesn’t fully drain) but it doesn’t appear to cause issues. I’ve included a photo of ours - see bottom hose. The clamp is just there spare- not serving a purpose. Because it’s angled up and there isn’t too much force behind the water it’s been ok. Now I feel silly for not already trying that! Definitely the simplest and cheapest solution! I'd already ordered a few bits from Bunnings to try to install it as per the manual, so I'll have to post back here for the next person if it works. Re: Connecting dryer to drain 10Sep 19, 2020 8:39 am I ended up getting a Pope 19mm x 13mm Barbed Reducing Joiner and Kinetic 2m White PVC Washing Machine And Dishwasher Plumbing Hose from Bunnings. I connected it all up this way: Dryer -> drain hose -> reducing joiner -> extension hose -> siphon Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I had to use a hair blow dryer to heat up the end of each hose to make the connections, but other than that it was pretty straight-forward. Re: Connecting dryer to drain 11Mar 18, 2021 12:26 am How do you drain water out of a dryer? I found a couple of tips on the Internet on how I can do this, but it seems to me that they are ineffective. To be honest, I decided that this season, as it gets warmer, I will turn to house washing services so that I do not do this work. Washing fences, walls, and the garage really annoy me. My friend has long advised me to turn to professionals who can do this work for me. So as soon as it gets warmer, I'll probably find guys who can do it all. I would be grateful if you share the contacts of trusted cleaning companies.
Re: Connecting dryer to drain 12Mar 18, 2021 4:57 am Perfection1993 How do you drain water out of a dryer? If your dryer is a heat pump dryer or condenser dryer, then instead of blowing the evaporated water back into the room and making it humid, it will condense some of it into liquid water and drain it into either a container or drain hose.
