Re: Evaporative Cooler: Brivis, Bonaire or Breezair? 42May 19, 2010 1:00 pm I'm really really struggling with this question at the moment. I have NO idea which brand to go with. I was going to go with Brivis, then I changed my mind to Braemar, then to bonaire, now to Breezair. I seem to be going around in circles!! And I have the same dilemma with the heating too Decisions....decisions.... Re: Evaporative Cooler: Brivis, Bonaire or Breezair? 43May 21, 2010 11:50 pm sionghua Hi, I am building a new house. I was told it is cheaper to get the builder put in power and water points for evaporative cooler ($280) than to get cooling company putting it in later. is it really so? It should be easier to do it before hand, and that should make it cheaper in theory. Now having said that I had a Brivis aircon retrofitted at my place and the cost installation, including water and power was included in the price. My gut feeling is the builder will mark up as an extra (no way does it cost $280 for a power point and an extra tap outlet), but the aircon company will incorporate a much more reasonable price in the system. The simple answer is no. The reason being ducted heating and ducted evap cooling have very different duct size requirements as well as the placement of outlet vents. With duct size evap cooling pumps though lots more air than heating, so requires bigger ducts. If you run cooling through the smaller heating ducts you won't get enough airflow through. If you were to upgrade the duct size to evap colling size then run the heating through these ducts then the heater won't be as effective as it won't be able to push through the whole system properly. Also as I mentioned both have different requirements for outlet placement. Generally heating is placed near windows, wheras evap cooling should be placed away from windows. Using the same ducts one system is going to be in a less than ideal location. So the bottom line is if you want ducted heathing and evap cooling use two separate duct system. As for the smell in your existing system, that would indicate that it needs some maintenance. A properly maintained evap cooling system shouldn't have any musty smell at all. We are renovating a brick venner single level home There is no definitive answer as it all depends upon how much space you have in your roof space to add the extra ducts. Re: Evaporative Cooler: Brivis, Bonaire or Breezair? 49Jun 08, 2010 1:18 pm hey guys, I'm just thinking of getting a quote for the evap cooling. We have 4 bedrooms, 1 small study room and 1 theatre room. I 'm not sure how many cooling units we will need. And if anyone knows approximatly the price of Breezair ? Thx!! Re: Evaporative Cooler: Brivis, Bonaire or Breezair? 50Jun 13, 2010 10:37 pm Hi, we are building a new double storey house in Melbourne and the building package originally included Bonaire evap cooling to the first flr only. They simply would not install to the ground flr due to the layout of the house. Given our 40+ days last summer, we were reluctant to accept no cooling to the ground flr so did a bit of research and visited a large a/c supplier/installer who gave me the spiel on the top 3 including showing me the internal design of each and basically recommended the Breezair. I was convinced but haven't really done any price comparisons yet. Due to the layout of the house and where the pipes could be dropped to the ground flr, we are also in the situation of installing evap cooling upstairs and split system downstairs. I understand this won't be a problem but was wondering if anyone has done this and what their experience is with it? http://glenn-and-denhs-tribeca.blogspot.com/ Handover: Thurs 9th June!!! Hi amyife, You would probably need 8 points: 1 for each bedroom, 1 for study, 1 for theatre room and then 2 ducts for dining / lounge area if they are in the same location. Hope that helps! Re: Evaporative Cooler: Brivis, Bonaire or Breezair? 52Jul 03, 2010 8:38 pm Hi Lynnie, Noticed your post regarding Bonaire, and I have been quotes for a Bonaire Integra in Northern Melbourne for $3800 intially from $4329 for 7 outlets, with two of the outlets being 16 inch compared to 12 in the 3 rooms, and 14 in master bedroom. Your prices are very cheap, who did you contact? Thanks Re: Evaporative Cooler: Brivis, Bonaire or Breezair? 53Sep 01, 2011 2:15 pm Can anyone recommend a supplier for evap aircons in Adelaide?
