Browse Forums Heating, Cooling & Insulation 1 May 28, 2020 7:18 pm I had hydronic slab heating installed 8 years ago in a house I built in Cranbourne East, Melbourne. It was installed by a reputable company in Melb EasterN suburbs that preaches their knowledge of hydronic heating. Rule #1 advertising can be misleading They installed the floor tubing to an expected zone layout that I provided (8 zones) and installed the manifold and control valve actuators (24v) in the expectation that I was providing the control system for the 8 zones as I work in the HVAC BMS industry and have for the last 35+ years. After moving into the house and all tubing was well embedded in the concrete slab with no insulation either below the floor coils or to the outer regions of the slab I connected it all to an industry standard BMS (building management system). Problem #1 There was no drawing of what valve on the manifold went to what zone, so after talking to the provider and told that they did not have a diagram and wondered, was this installed of the back of a cigarette packet ! Anyway 8 years down the track I have a system that I am still not 100% sure which valve feeds which zone as the Bosch CDI boiler that I have can only feed a minimum amount of open coils so I just can’t turn on 1 and see what zone gets any heat. The issue I have is that there are people out there that know the Bosch boiler itself but do not have any knowledge of the total system. I have been Googling a lot about what sort of TD’s I should get across each zone/circuit around 10 to 12 deg c (if this is correct) and have tried to set each regulating valve to suit. I have changed the Bosch boiler to option 5 for proportional control low for the pump and are getting pretty much around 10 deg c TD across the coils but are still having issues with warmth on cold mornings. I am running the system intermittently across the day for an accumulated time of around 12 hours/ day. I am getting gas bills of around $200 to $300 per month and as this is meant to be a very efficient form of heating are wondering if this is way over the top or not. I am now on my 8th year of trying to get this right and would like any feedback anyone can give. Re: Hydronic slab heating (my experience) 2May 28, 2020 8:16 pm turn on zone 123 and see what gets hot, say for example kitchen b1 and bath then turn on 234 and see what gets hot say for example kitchen b2 and bath then 345 etc say for example kitchen and b2 and living then you would know 1 is b1, 2 is bathroom, 3 is kitchen, 4 is b2, 5 is living Does anyone have a suggestion for a good hydronic in slab heating speacialist who may be able to help me with an existing system and wether or not it may need a seperator… 0 5473 Currently renovating, and our main lounge is 5m x 10m, with a cathedral roof peaking at 6.5m high.
