Browse Forums Heating, Cooling & Insulation 1 Jun 28, 2022 5:01 pm Our Vulcan ducted gas heater (5010043) is tripping the overheat cutoff (part 9041914SP). This is the cutoff that has a manual reset and sits underneath the fan that pressurises the burners. i think it measures the heated air temperature, but could be way off base. The other cutoff switch is in the burner area, and that one doesnt seem to be a problem. Do these cutoffs fail over time? What temperature do they trip at? I placed a temperature probe next the thermostat and it seemed to trip near 45deg C (of course, my probe may not be reading the same temperature as the cutoff switch, but a lower temperature, so the cutoff may be tripping at a higher temp) I am thinking of just replacing this part, but if there is something more sinister going on, it's probably time to replace the unit. Everything else seems to work fine - burners ignite, main fan start, burners will shut down if the set temperature is reached, and will restart when needed. However, after some time of operation, (15 plus minutes) the overheat cutout will trigger, and power is removed from the unit. Then it's pull off the cover, remove the fan, reset the cutoff switch, and reassemble. Not a big job, but annoying. If the overheat cutout is not the root cause, any suggestions on why the unit is overheating when the fans are running (return vent is clear, and I don't think the outets are blocked, so I think there is good air flow. I probably should say that the unit sometimes shutdown due to gas interruption, but the unit can reset itself when and if that happens, and I don't think it's related to the overheat cutoff - The loss of gas pressure might a topic for a different discussion. Hi, just need to ask if anyone build with Central Properties in Victoria.
