Browse Forums Heating, Cooling & Insulation Re: Underfloor insulation 3Apr 30, 2020 6:28 pm Sadly forums are dead mate. I have under floor insulation, was approx $2400 supply only, no pest issues, cannot provide any data on weather it works or not as it was just a building requirement. Re: Underfloor insulation 4May 02, 2020 5:57 pm I installed Autex Greentuff R2.5 from EcoMaster about a month ago. It was easy to install (but time-consuming - house is 30sq). The house now seems to retain heat a lot better. Previously at night (cold) the front section of the house (unheated) would be ~5 degrees warmer than outside. It's now about 8-9 degrees, so appears to be holding the residual heat a lot better (although there are a lot of variables). I think the proof will be in the power bills over time. I live in the Macedon ranges which is apparently one of the coldest areas in Australia, so we're slowly chipping away at improving the heat retention, and given the number of tiles in the house this was one of our first items. Happy to give more info Re: Underfloor insulation 6May 29, 2020 10:40 am Stewie D How did you fix it in place? Stewie Re: Underfloor insulation 7May 29, 2020 11:18 am Stewie D How did you fix it in place? Stewie I used Bradford optimo underfloor. It comes with plastic saddles that hold batts in place (i have steel floor) Re: Underfloor insulation 8May 29, 2020 12:35 pm I'm just curious to the methods other guys use. When we did renos for clients we retro fitted under floor insulation to maybe 6-7 homes. We've used everything from battens nailed across the joists to chicken wire to proper fittings recommended by the manufacturers and just staples. Not too bad if you have a bit of headroom but otherwise a right royal pain in the butt. Stewie 1 10134 Hey guys building a new place through a volume builder and just wondering if i should complain to the site supervisor as we just had plasterboard installed. Looks like… 0 11273 1000000% definitely add insulation. I have in my home and it makes a big difference minimising sound transfer. Insulation is pretty cheap and definitely worth it 2 6202 |
