Browse Forums Heating, Cooling & Insulation 1 Jul 04, 2019 10:17 am I have a Solar thermal hot water service. It works great during summer with the heat element switched off at switch board. October to April/May no electricity is used to heat water. On the other hand during the cooler months I find the system does not work well, requiring the electrical element to heat the water. The outcome from this is winter electricity bills are huge. I have found a few articles from europe and usa about the benefits of using Solar thermal hot water with a heat pump back up but nothing in Australia. Has anyone seen this in Australian? Thoughts?
