Hydronic heating

I am looking at a raised floor with hydronic heating. Does anyone have any experience with using these systems? For some reason the local pricing on these systems are exorbitant. When you consider the cost they pay for systems in the UK. At any rate, I will cobble a system together, using imported components (1/3 cost) but will need a heat pump. So any recommendations?
Have you considered DiscreetHeat skirting board system? I think they are popular in the UK.
