Browse Forums Heating, Cooling & Insulation 1 Apr 09, 2018 12:05 pm Hi all, Hoping someone can assist. We bought our house 9 months ago, with it being only 2 years old. We noticed, that every now and then we would run out of hot water even though no one was home all day! Now there is only 3 in our family, and its not running out for the 3rd shower, its usually the first. Our washing machine heats its own hot water - so we were kind of lost. My question is, if there are any plumbers out there and could you tell me whether the conversion is straight forward to an instant gas heater, costs. etc? Thank you in advance. Just want to confirm - you currently have an electric hot water system and want to convert to gas boosted solar hot water system? If that is correct, have you checked the setup for the current system? Re: Hot Water - Dux Solar Gas Boosted 3Apr 09, 2018 12:33 pm I have the Dux Solar boosted hot water system currently but want to change to the instant gas system as the Solar Boosted just doesn't give us hot water (on some occasions - average once a week). Confused Renovator Re: Hot Water - Dux Solar Gas Boosted 4Apr 09, 2018 1:02 pm DamNita I have the Dux Solar boosted hot water system currently... Great, but what is it boosted by? Gas or electricity? If gas, then I think there is something wrong with the settings of your current system, as it should fire up and heat the tank as soon as it is running low on hot water. I don't see why you would revert to using expensive gas every time you want hot water, when at least some of your hot water should be free from the sun right now, and it should be heating with gas when it is not. If it’s electrically boosted, then that is a different story, although perhaps you might need just a larger tank. We literally have no hot water on some days. Confused Renovator Re: Hot Water - Dux Solar Gas Boosted 6Apr 09, 2018 1:09 pm DamNita It is GAS - so perhaps get someone out? Yes, that’s what I would do - someone who is a plumber and gasfitter. Perhaps ring Dux and ask them who their service agent is in your area, then they will know your system and be able to diagnose it. I certainly wouldn’t be giving up your solar system when the price of gas is high and still rising. I want to build a decking to the drawn shape outlined in black.
