Browse Forums Heating, Cooling & Insulation 1 Jan 01, 2018 5:54 pm Hi and Happy New Year everyone, We recently bought a '70s brick veneer house with absolutely no insulation, neither wall nor roof. I hear that many people use blow in cavity insulation for brick veneer but that it's limited by the size of the cavity and also can cause problems with cables etc. That's why I'm thinking about external wall insultation, i.e. wood frame on top of the brick veneer, bats in, moisture barrier on top and then add new external cladding. This way the house gets insulation and a face lift in one go. It's common for old houses in the States & Europe but I couldn't find any information for Australia, who can do it, prices etc. Does anyone have experience with it and can give me some information? Cheers, Tim Re: External wall insulation 4Jun 09, 2018 8:37 pm Hi TimBM, Have a look at this, https://www.smartstonesystems.com/smart ... stems-home Insulation + Makeover + No rendering (no maintenance) Could be cost effective if you do it yourself.
