Our builder has supplied us with detailed costing on our oncoming renovation. It has detailed specs of all material but no brands have been mentioned.
He has specified R2.5 wall & floor batts and R3 ceiling batts. I am not sure if i should specify any particular brands or are they all the same.
I am keen on using good insulation in walls for sound proofing. Noticed there are acoustic batts - are they costlier and what brands should i be looking for?
also, for floor, should i use acoustic batts for lower sound transmission to ground floor?
advise most appreciated.

The R-rating is certified, so there should be no difference in thermal performance of two brands with the same rating. Longevity might be a different issue and it might be worth searching the internet for bad reviews of ones to avoid due to bad experiences by owners, rather than recommendations which I doubt anyone would bother making.
Acoustic batts are a bit costlier. They would be good in the floor too. Might also consider them in a ceiling above a room you want to isolate, as sound can travel through the roof space too.
No brand recommendations to make.
