Interpretation of Energy Conservation in Buildings

My understanding of energy conservation in a home is how to maintain comfort levels while being minimally reliant on electrical consumption but it seems to me that I may have an outdated interpretation
Seems right to me, except I would say being minimally reliant of resources of any kind. You might find some answers here:
