Browse Forums Heating, Cooling & Insulation 1 Jul 05, 2017 5:04 pm ELECTRICIANS PLEASE HELP Firstly let me explain - I know nothing about electricity I currently have a ducted air conditioning unit that is only about 3 years old and is running on single phase electricity. We are going to RENOVATE OUR KITCHEN and we are lead to believed our new induction cook top will have to be connected to three phase power. When I get this three phase electricity will it affect my air con unit by running on three phase power Re: Air-Con on 3 phase 2Jul 05, 2017 9:38 pm I am not an electrician however I do have 3phase. Your single phase AC will simply be connected to 1 of the 3 phases. The other electrical items will be deeply distributed to share the load across all 3 separate phases. We also have induction cooktop and that was connected as per standard electrical connection (IE single phase) If you home is not already 3phase then your electricity wholesaler will need to upgrade your home and electricity meter. Happy for Sparky's to add or correct my simple explanation. Re: Air-Con on 3 phase 3Jul 07, 2017 1:25 am Before you splash out and outlay on a mains upgrade to 3 phase supply, just check that your induction cooktop doesn't also support single phase supply. The few I've connected have been able to use either supply. Be mindful that the current draw is quite hefty using single phase though compared to 3 phase supply. As to your air con, like GLO mentions above, it'll just connect to one of the phases and run as per normal. How do you remove one of these ceiling air con vents? And is it possible to disconnect the duct joined to the vent from inside the house, without going into the roof cavity? 0 5899 Hi all, sorting out the ducted air con for a 350sqm double story house.
