Browse Forums Heating, Cooling & Insulation 1 May 12, 2017 4:09 pm We will be building our new home hopefully later this year. It will be on 2 acres in the Ballarat Region and we are looking at our heating options. There is no natural gas in the area and we don't want to rely on electricity (with prices increasing each year). We will be having a double sided combustion wood heater in the main living areas and have been looking at ducted heating for the wood fire. Most companies sell air transfer kits which are cheap but only transfer hot air from the room to other rooms and I have heard they are not that efficient. I have come across a company that ducts hot air from the flue itself, which is much hotter. This means that the air should be warmer when transferred. This system sounds excellent and I have spoken to the local rep here who advised the system (including the heater) would probably cost around $10,000. It's not cheap but if it works as well as they say I think it would be worth it. The only issue I have with ducted heating is the airflow from the ducts. The ducts would be in the ceiling and I hate the air blowing onto you. The rep advised that the air blows much softer than traditional gas ducted heating but I'm not convinced. The company we are looking at is called Turboheat but I can't find anything about it online apart from their website. Does anyone know anything about this company and if their system works as well as they claim? We are tossing up between a Jarrahdale radiant wood fire (the Pioneer) and a convection wood fire (Innovator or Countryman) but cannot decide on which type of wood fire is… 0 5250 yeah i couldnt picture it issue either, but i could clearly picture what they were doing wrong haha 2 5295 Hi all, sorting out the ducted air con for a 350sqm double story house. Does this placement sound reasonable to you? Also, I plan to have 6 zones I think. Living room… 0 0 |
