Browse Forums Heating, Cooling & Insulation 1 May 07, 2017 4:29 pm Hi Everyone I have an actron ducted ac work ok nothing special, I think it might be a bit undersized for our home. 27 squares 2700mm high ceilings I think its a 14.8kw. anyways my main question is the builder left gaps under all the doors probably about 20mm. Of course they did the doors before tiling anyway I notice air flowing under the doors when the a/c is running. Did the builder do this on purpose to allow for return air should I seal up below the doors or not? Our return air and main controller is in the hallway right next to our bathroom which is freezing cold the whole room. anyway the other night I opened all the doors and set it to bedrooms except I closed the master bedroom door. Woke up at 3am nearly dying of heat exhaustion as the whole thing labours all night heating the house but our room boils with a door shut the bathroom door temp guage is the dumbest idea ever. We have 3.5 star insulation in the walls and ceiling but you can feel the bathroom on a cold night its noticeablty at least 5 -10 degrees cooler than other rooms. Re: Ducted ac question gas under doors 2May 07, 2017 7:08 pm If there is no gap under the door and the door is closed then that room won't get good airflow. . . The rooms get an initial blast but then become pressurised and the flow out of the vents slows down. That was the situation in our last house and with the doors shut those rooms were not effectivily cooledd in summer or heated effectively in winter The Harder You Try - the Luckier You Get ! Re: Ducted ac question gas under doors 3May 07, 2017 11:34 pm The 20mm gap under the doors is to act as a relief for return air otherwise as bashworth has stated the rooms will tend to pressurize or you'll get whistling sir noises as the volume of air tries to pass through a small gap. In commercial they install door grilles indoors for return air but I'm of the opinion they are an eyesore. 0 6295 Hi all, sorting out the ducted air con for a 350sqm double story house.
