Browse Forums Heating, Cooling & Insulation 1 Jul 07, 2016 4:05 pm We are building a Sheridan 36 with clarendon. I'm looking at a gas fireplace in the main living which is about 5m x 4m. I don't know much about fireplaces but thinking of going with flued if possible. Since our house will be 2 storey, can this work? I'm thinking to ask clarendon to leave the space for the flue and fireplace. Or would flueless be more convenient? Has anyone done this with their builder? How much did your builder charge? Re: Flue gas fireplace 2Jul 07, 2016 5:18 pm Having a flue is the way to go. Safer and less moisture in the room. The Harder You Try - the Luckier You Get ! Re: Flue gas fireplace 3Jul 07, 2016 6:17 pm That would also depend on the model you choose and where you want to place it. Most these days require gas fireplaces to be flued anyway. To take it up through the second floor isn't so much of a drama if it is against an outside wall or you can place it close to an internal wall above then build a bulkhead around it. How much the builder wants to charge you to do this of course may be a lot more than you want to pay. Stewie Hi all, My first post, we are building a house and can’t decide the layout of the lounge room. We have a large N/W facing window and are wanting to have a wood slow… 0 13719 No the fireplace doesn’t work. It’s been enclosed. I’m not sure what was removed, as it was done quite some time ago - well before what I can see with photos online… 2 11569 I would probably render it and then paint it as per your other advice, or gyrpock over the top. 1 3321 |
