Also not sure about implications of not having eaves in summer. From my understanding eaves help especially in summer and protect against direct heat. What's your experience with eaves? There is also the fact that eaves help shade the windows from hot summer sun ( if they are wide enough - 450mm or so ) and help keep rain off windows and doors too. We have 600mm and they stop the sun hitting the north facing windows from around October to March, but don't stop the sun streaming in during the cooler months. They look better but also have genuine benefits. Worth every cent. Edited to add: in my case the house is a single story. Might cost more now but will save you over time by keeping house cooler so less aircon needed, less maintenance as they protect the windows and doors, looks better, just do it! But i better stop now before I go down the houses shouldn't be allowed to be built without eaves in Australia rant...
