Browse Forums Heating, Cooling & Insulation 1 Mar 31, 2016 2:53 pm Does anyone know how to calculate the difference in heating costs between a 6 star house and a 7 star house? I dont require complete accuarcy just a range, or percentage, or website calculator (I've been looking!). For example, if a 65sqm 6 star granny flat in a cool climate requires $1000 pa to heat, what would the same 7 star house cost to heat pa?......roughly! It will cost me $2000 to insulate under slab and raise my star rating from 6 to 7. It wouldnt surprise me if it will take a good 15 to 20 years before the heating savings commence. Thanks very much. Costs around $400-$700 for an assessment. The other things I found on my assessment were windows (we double glazed) and down lights...unsealed are basically holes in the ceiling. Insulation to the walls and ceiling etc for your zone will also be a big plus Re: Comparing house energy star ratings and heating cost sav 6Mar 31, 2016 3:48 pm thank you for numerous posts dj, but i do not think you answered my question Re: Comparing house energy star ratings and heating cost sav 7Mar 31, 2016 6:07 pm Have a look at this table http://anewhouse.com.au/2015/08/what-do ... ting-mean/ The Harder You Try - the Luckier You Get !
