In theory this would seem to work out to R6, but more work installing! Just wondering if anyone else has gone down this path? Hubby is doing the installation, new house so should be fairly neat and clean, only 2 downlights to worry about, large area but doesn't seem overly difficult. When we inspect a ceiling before install we look at the condition of the ceiling cavity and the condition of the pre-existing insulation. It most cases you can lay batts over the top but you want to minimise the gaps as much as possible. We also look at the option of removal and reinstall. Where are you based?
