Our home is very open plan but if I close all the bedroom doors 3 very very small kids bedrooms and one very large main bedroom it still struggles on the one zone. Ive had the air con blokes out they tell me its normal I beg to differ. Trying to cool 203.10 square metres this is outr inside area which excludes garage porch and alfresco Building the Sheffield 25 + 2 sq Re: Actron Air Ducted 14.7KW poor cooling 7Dec 19, 2015 7:33 pm Matt1 Doesn't sound right. Get them to check the ducting. We had an issue with one zone that would heat to way above the set temp (we moved in in winter). Turns out they'd done the ducting wrong. We have the biggest Actron unit in a big 2 story. We run it at 22 year round and it had no troubles keeping it at that all day. Probably turned it on about 11ish. How long does it take to get from 30 degrees inside to 22 degress? Building the Sheffield 25 + 2 sq Re: Actron Air Ducted 14.7KW poor cooling 8Dec 19, 2015 7:39 pm It does it gradually, I'd guess an hour or so to get to 24 ish, maybe a little longer to get to 22. Re: Actron Air Ducted 14.7KW poor cooling 9Dec 19, 2015 7:54 pm That capacity should be enough. Our house with a 12.5kW aircon isn't a lot smaller, and we can come home on a 42 degree day and it will cool it in fairly reasonable time. You shouldn't have to be turning it on until the inside temp starts getting uncomfortable. If you're running an aircon that size flat-out all day, it's going to cost $$$. The fact that it's draining a lot of water shows that either there's a lot of humidity in the air, or the evaporator is getting quite cold. I wonder if maybe it's in a de-humidify mode rather than cool mode?? Otherwise maybe the air flow rate has been restricted by something, and it can't pump enough air internally to operate efficiently? Are there any closed doors between the air outlets and the return air grille? Re: Actron Air Ducted 14.7KW poor cooling 10Dec 19, 2015 11:02 pm My house is about 420sqm of living and full double glazing throughout with insulation etc and the acton folks spec'd 2 19kw (maybe 17kw) units for my house. I would have them out to check because it does not sound right. Re: Actron Air Ducted 14.7KW poor cooling 11Dec 20, 2015 10:48 am sheffieldhunter Charley If I know it's going to be a hot day I turn the aircon on in the morning before it gets hot. viewtopic.php?t=81011 I know this may be ideal but I really only use the air con on a stinking really hot day and probably wouldn't bother turning it on until 11:00 am. Am I Seriously better just running it flat stick from 7:00am. My dad has the same size house I think he has a daikin and it smashes this actron unit out of the water his unit is also very very very old our was installed 3 months ago No not flat stick. If your turn an air con on low early in the morning, the idea is it hopefully stops your house from getting hot. viewtopic.php?t=81011 Build thread viewtopic.php?f=31&t=81011 Re: Actron Air Ducted 14.7KW poor cooling 12Dec 20, 2015 10:55 pm sheffieldhunter The other thing im concerned about is the drain pipe in the gutter when the unit is running there is a constant stream of water coming from the drain pipe and it never stops its streams like a running tap continuously is this normal? Have you got a picture of this you can post up? It's almost sounding like you have evaporative cooling from your description... Hi all, sorting out the ducted air con for a 350sqm double story house.
