Browse Forums Heating, Cooling & Insulation 1 Aug 22, 2015 8:03 am About to build with Henley\Mainvue and question the zoning of the Brivis heating refrigerated add on cooling systems. Tender document clearly states cooling is only possible to either ground or first floor whereas heating is possible to enable for both zones. Dismissing the sizing of the refrigerated add on (capacity to effectively cool both zones), I do not understand why cooling is only enabled to either ground or first floor zones but not both at the same time. Tender statement: “Two electrically controlled zone motors are installed in the ductwork of the heating system when using a Braves heating unit with a Network controller. The homeowner is able to operate the heating and refrigerated add on cooling systems as follows: 1- Whole home heating only (Both zones open) 2- Ground floor heating or cooling only (First floor zone is closed) 3- First floor heating or cooling only (ground floor zone is closed)” Can this configuration be changed to enable cooling and heating to all zones? Re: Brivis heating refrigerated add on cooling system all zo 2Aug 23, 2015 12:31 am Generally with addon cooling systems to gas ducted heaters, the fan in the ducted heater cannot move enough air for optimum cooling hence why only one zone is able to be cooled at a time. Heating requires less air than cooling. Perhaps inquire as to whether you could use an inline booster fan or two to be started when in cooling mode to increase the volume of air being moved and you might have more of a chance to adequately cool both zones. hth Re: Brivis heating refrigerated add on cooling system all zo 3Aug 23, 2015 11:41 am Yes you can have it cooling all zones but will not be sufficient unless they have fitted an oversized unit ( which they never do) In my case i can hold one zone at 21-22 deg on a 40 deg day however if whole house is cooling temp will rise to 24-26 with ac running all the time and not cycling. Being double story as well you will struggle with upstairs however downstairs wont be an issue. Dean Hi all, sorting out the ducted air con for a 350sqm double story house.
