Browse Forums Heating, Cooling & Insulation Re: What is the best brand for Ducted AC 2Jul 06, 2015 8:16 pm My biggest suggestion is to get something that has a highly variable internal fan, e.g. 10-15+ speeds instead of 3 (high/medium/low). Look seriously into Actron Air, I went with iZone 311+Panasonic but I have a number of picky gripes with the system that seem to extend from basically having integration between two systems made by different manufacturers. Hoping Actron might solve that with their top of the line stuff. But my biggest sufferance at the moment is not having enough variability in the internal fan. Re: What is the best brand for Ducted AC 3Jul 06, 2015 8:39 pm For many of the units, the zone controller is a separate unit, so having the zones comes down to having a good zone controller attached. Daikin is the premium brand, but they have suffered from having less inverter range, and not handling lightly loaded usage so well as some others. Actron is the leader in operation down to very low power levels. I agree with lathiat that scaleability is important. That means a wide range of fan speeds, and also a wide range of inverter power. Panasonic is fairly good with the inverter power range. With a 390m2 house, you'll want to think about how much of that is to be conditioned on very hot days, and how much on hot nights. It may be that you're better off with more than one system, or a mix of ducted and split systems, to allow the flexibility for efficient operation. Re: What is the best brand for Ducted AC 4Jul 06, 2015 10:39 pm I am going two 17kw Actron Esp Ultima systems. It was the only way to allow the entire house to be cooled. Maybe overkill but I like the fact that it can ramp down and ramp up. I am hoping that it is as good as they claim it is.........
