Browse Forums Heating, Cooling & Insulation 1 Jul 01, 2015 11:33 am Hi all, I have my builder installed a capped gas point in my alfresco and I want to get an outdoor heater from Masters like this one (https://www.masters.com.au/product/1003 ... less-steel). However, it seems that the gas point uses natural gas whilst this heater uses LPG, am I right? If so, is there anything I could convert between the 2? Re: Outdoor heater with a capped gas point?? 2Jul 01, 2015 6:32 pm It may be possible to get the heater converted to natural gas, you'd need to take it to a licenced gasfitter. Possibly cheaper to find a natural gas heater?
Re: Outdoor heater with a capped gas point?? 3Jul 03, 2015 8:45 am Can I ask - can you get natural gas ? This is the way to go. If not - why did they install this type of point ? Re: Outdoor heater with a capped gas point?? 4Jul 03, 2015 9:08 am There is no difference between a natural gas bayonet socket and an LPG bayonet socket. The only different is the gas that flows through it... LPG runs at a higher pressure but you only need a smaller quantity. Conversely, natural gas is delivered in a higher volume at lower pressure. So you need to change the gas jets and the regulator. It can be done on most appliances, but whether it is economical to do so is another story. This is the way to go. If not - why did they install this type of point ? I believe the gas we're using in our household are all natural gas? That's why I believe the capped gas point that they installed in my alfresco also a natural gas? Re: Outdoor heater with a capped gas point?? 7Jul 03, 2015 6:35 pm Friends of ours had something similar done a few years ago for their BBQ and a wok burner. I think the jets were $20 to buy for a set and the regulator $30. They just swapped them out themselves but it may be different for your appliance. If you're in Victoria you may want to check with ESV if it's still possible to convert from LPG to NG for a heater as they outlawed the conversions with bbqs not that long ago and documented it in the quarterly newsletter sent out to practitioners. I can't recall if it mentioned heaters. Re: Outdoor heater with a capped gas point?? 11Jul 04, 2015 9:13 am Wow thanks for this, it never crossed my mind about the different gases. A place that specifically sells bbqs such as bbqs galore would probably have some natural gas bbqs on display that you could look at. Hi all, Our boundary perimeter fences need replacing (3 sides).
