Browse Forums Heating, Cooling & Insulation 1 Jun 29, 2008 8:28 pm Hi,
Has anyone put in a ceiling fan in place of a light? I was told that lights run on 15amp circuit whereas ceiling fans need to have 18amp. Is this true? Re: Ceiling fans in replace of light 2Jun 29, 2008 8:41 pm No (to the 2nd question). Geoff - Decophile. Re: Ceiling fans in replace of light 4Jun 29, 2008 8:50 pm I believe you can swap them out, but they are expensive to get them installed. Quoted between $130 and $170 per fan. Even with a remote control unit firtted ($90) sparkies still charge a fortune. Of course it depends on your fan.
