Hey all
Those that have hydronic heating, what wall controllers do you have?
Our quote includes a Siemens REV17
I'm wondering if this is an easy and practical controller or are there better options out there?

Re: Controllers 3Jan 12, 2015 10:23 pm I don't have hydronic heating in yet but it's in the process of being installed at my place with the rough-in starting in 2 weeks. They offered a fairly basic Honeywell digital thermostat/controller but I opted to supply my own Smart Temp Falcon web enabled thermostat controller. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ It's probably overkill for a simple hydronic setup but it will fit in nicely with my plans for a bit of home automation without trying to get the go ahead for a full control system past my partner. I've also specced thermostatic valves on all the panels upstairs as well as in the master bedroom on ground floor. I'm also planning to add some compatible IO modules and interface the lighting with web enabled on off control, hence my choice of thermostat controller. hth Re: Controllers 4Jan 13, 2015 5:21 am Lol Bels... Thought you said simple ! I've tried to look for reviews on the Siemens controller and can only find 1 UK one. The other option in a Honeywell CM 907 I think the Siemens is better. They are both so ugly Controllers 6Jan 13, 2015 7:03 pm I'd never thought about it to be quite honest. I'll have to do a bit of research on what's available. I have to say the company I'm working with are absolutely fantastic so they may even buy it for me. I would like to know what other controllers others recommend Re: Controllers 7Jan 13, 2015 7:19 pm It all depends on what you're after for a thermostat and what features are important. I'm personally a techie so dislike anything I don't have alot of control over. I personally prefer the Smart Temp controllers as it's something I've used quite often over the years with good results. Hevac also do rock solid controllers and even have wall mounted heat cool controllers. If you're after web enabled there's also the ecobee to consider. hth Re: Controllers 9Jan 13, 2015 7:58 pm Wow found this funky controller that uses remote sensors in each room. From what I can gather the sensors monitor motion in rooms then the temp and runs the unit based on that info, so for example it the controller is in the living areas but everyone is in bed it uses the bedroom temperatures to run the system. http://www.gizmodo.com.au/2014/09/the-l ... from-home/ Re: Controllers 10Jan 13, 2015 8:42 pm Wow that looks pretty swish and I really like them taking concepts of commercial air conditioning and heating control and repacking it into something appealing and suitable for home use. You'll find that when interfaced with additional kit such as interfacing relays, etc, it'll also be able to control that ducted refrigerated system you're also putting in. Re: Controllers 12Jan 14, 2015 7:03 pm I would stay away from Nest to be honest. If you look through american hvac forums, their hvac techs are removing Nest controllers when found and replacing with standard digital thermostat controllers. Let's hope now that Google owns it they might redesign the Nest to include a common wire and it might be reasonable. Smart AC controller 15May 14, 2015 1:02 am I'm a professional contractor myself and previously done research on all known controllers (Honeywell, Nest, Tado, Zen etc). Now I came across an unheard of controller via an email I received. Since there's quite a big demand from our customers to start offering wireless controllers for air conditioners, I've started compared different options again. The new controller is made in Europe (they ship to Australia) and seems to have similar functions as do the popular ones. AirPatrol WiFi is the device I'm talking about and just want to know what you guys think of it? Product page - http://airpatrol.eu/shop/airpatrol-wifi/. Design of the device is quite minimal which is good I guess. Also installed their app on my iPhone (is available for iOS). Seems to work with various manufacturers. Looks promising but not sure how smart this AC controller is...
