Browse Forums Heating, Cooling & Insulation 1 Aug 28, 2014 9:37 pm We are currently getting quotes for our new house in New Gisborne in Victoria. We have no natural gas available but are looking to install bottle LPG for cooking. So basically our options are either electric or LPG units with refrigerated cooling. One builder has suggested the Fujitsu ARTC72L for electric but haven't got much feedback about the LPG as everyone says the running costs will be expensive. We are using floorboards and I have read hydronic isn't great with them plus the unit cost is a bit scary. I am also concerned about the running costs of the electric unit Any feedback or recommendations on either electric or LPG units would be appreciated. The house is 255m2 (27.5sq's) brick with colorbond roof. We are also installing a coonara or jetmaster style fireplace in the main living area to help with the heating. Re: Heating/cooling options with no natural gas 4Aug 29, 2014 12:33 pm I would be going for reverse cycle air conditioning. I have found Daikin units to be inexpensive to run and reliable (but not the cheapest to buy) The Harder You Try - the Luckier You Get ! Re: Heating/cooling options with no natural gas 5Aug 29, 2014 12:43 pm As Bashworth says RC Air con is probably your best bet. Any hydronic or underfloor heating is fine for tiles and polished concrete but for solid timber flooring over the top of a slab ( as opposed to click and lay style engineered flooring ) it will cause you problems with the boards either drying out too much or warping etc. Stewie Re: Heating/cooling options with no natural gas 6Sep 08, 2014 1:54 am We went for Daikin inverter systems (3-phase power). Our builders supplier has quoted and recommended a Fujitsu unit and says it comparable with the Daikin. Can you give me any feedback on you electricity costs? And is your unit heating with refrigerated add on?
