Browse Forums Heating, Cooling & Insulation 1 Apr 28, 2014 1:51 pm Hello I am tossing up between Daikin and Fujitsu ducted air conditioning units for our residential home. They are both 14kw, inverter and 6 zones. The Daikin is about $1600 more than the Fujitsu (the Fujitsu is on special, $1k off regular price until end of June). A sales rep has told me that Daikin parts are substantially more expensive than Fujitsu (when out of warranty). Does anyone have any guidance about either of these brands? I have looked at Actron too.... but not keen to go there as we have never heard of them before. Thanking you Re: Daikin? Fujitsu? R/C Ducted Air Conditioning Questions 2Apr 28, 2014 10:30 pm Never had an issue with daikin and there's a good reason they are so big in the commercial market. Actron have a very good reputation... Many on here have an actron system. I'd suggest you do a little more research into them as to being probably a very good option. If it was between Daikin and Fujitsu I'd be going Daikin. Re: Daikin? Fujitsu? R/C Ducted Air Conditioning Questions 3Apr 29, 2014 2:39 pm Thank you seano, very good points. I am leaning towards spending the extra money on the Daikin at this stage. I'll do some more research. Daikin? Fujitsu? R/C Ducted Air Conditioning Questions 4May 02, 2014 6:49 pm Joyfulb I undertook the same exercise on 20kw units. I was sold on the actron BUT you need to consider... What is really different between them all? I ended up going with daiken or Fujitsu. Couldn't justify extra money for something I won't use..refer below Well I'll tell you saving the research. Main difference and selling point on Actron is that it can scroll it's motors down to 10% of the capacity. In your case that would be 1.4kw. What does that really represent? Well it means you can zone of every room and if you want cool only 1 room... Is this practical? Probably not. The other units will probably scroll down to only 50% which means a min of 7kw. In real terms this is not a lot in a big house and almost no one will zone down to cool or heat just 2 rooms. It really will come down to your zoning. So work out what's the min number of rooms you want to cool at any one time? Then work out how many KW it needs to cool or heat and choose your unit from there. Hope that helps. Re: Daikin? Fujitsu? R/C Ducted Air Conditioning Questions 5May 03, 2014 12:47 am Thank you very much for the clarity Crazyk. I don't think we'll ever scale down to one room. We may do one zone (the open plan family area) - which the air con people have told me that one zone (because of the size) is 10kw. The price I have been given for Actron is $900 over budget. Fujitsu is $1000 under and I've just sourced a new Daikin quote for exactly on our budget. I'll do a little more research but I think that's what we'll go for. I'd like to save money where possible but I think the Daikin will be worth the investment and it's right on the money.
