Hi.
Originally i was planning on going a tiled roof, but the covenant requires flat or semi-flat roof tiles. The builders standard range was out, so basically - Bristile Prestige or Bristile Classic are the only acceptable tiles.
Bristile Classic with sarking is an extra $2600 (got forbid you want Prestige, thats $8000!)
Personally i would prefer Colorbond and that comes in, without sarking, at $1000.
My concern with Colorbond is noise made during expansion/contraction. I don't mind the rain noise too much.
I have been investigating noise barriers, with Bluescope Steel recommending a glass wool blanket directly underneath the colorbond.
Builder will do Anticon 60mm for $2300 - bit expensive, but not too bad.
They will also do sarking (just the foil) for $1200.
My question is this;
What insulative properties does the Anticon provide? Bradford's website wasn't helpful in this regards and I am already upgrading the roof insulation to R3.5. Would i be better to leave the insulation at R2.5 and go with Anticon, or upgrade to R3.5 and go with sarking for temperature purposes?
Also, i am guessing that Anticon will provide better noise reduction than sarking + cavity + roof batts? Or will they be roughly equal.
Cheers.
