Hi
Has anyone had the builder to add blow-in (cellulose) insulation then after hand over put either polly or glass batts over the top. My theory is that the worst thing about cellulose is that it goes eveywhere until it settles which would prob take a few years. If I have the builder change from cellulose to batts he rebates say around $4-500 for the blow-in, then wants to charge around $3-4,000 for the batts installed. I recon that I may as well just have the builder do the cheap job with the 3.5R blow-in then go out buy batts myself of 1.5 or 2.R for say $2,000 and lay over the blow-in therfore takeing away the problem of the stuff blowing around etc because the batts will seal between the ceiling beams. In doing this I'm not paying the builder to upgrade to the batts but am getting a better rating 5R or better for less $ because I'm doing the install. If no one has done this, does it make sence to do this way or have I got it wrong???
