I'd just like to share an experience I had today with Lucci fans quality control and their warranty process. I'm curious to know if others have had similar experiences or if I just got the fuzzy end of the lollipop today.
I had two Lucci Envirolux Capri fans installed today and it appears as though the motor on one of them is faulty out of the box. It is extremely noisy and very unbalanced on all speeds and couldn't be rebalanced. Additionally, the motor housing has a black streak along it which can't be accounted for by anything it has come into contact with during installation; it must have been there when it came out of the box. What really steams me is that the fan it replaced was, for the most part, still functioning well after 18 years. It was making random noises which were really only irritating during those very quiet hours of the night and the light cover was broken but that was all. Now I have a bedroom fan that is largely unusable at night as I don't see how I can sleep through the noise it makes on any setting. But hey, the light works. And it has a light cover. The other fan that was installed today works quietly on all settings although it is very wobbly on the two higher settings.
And so I had to put the Lucci warranty to the test before the electricians even left the house and definitely found the process wanting. They won't begin the process over the phone. They email you a warranty registration form which form you have to fill out and email or fax back to them. Then and only then will they "schedule" (their word) a service call. I look forward to that with great anticipation. I will jump through their hoops to get this fan replaced but when my other 18-year-old fans kark it I doubt I will buy Lucci again.
Has anyone else had a similar experience with Lucci fans and their warranty process?
