I want solar to reduce a $400 quarterly bill, I can only imagine what it'd do to yours! Slooowwwwly getting a Manhatten 35 in Middleton Grange Re: How's your air conditioning coping in the heat? 23Jan 29, 2014 3:04 pm The problem with running an aircon at 26 degrees is that is too warm to sleep comfortably IMHO. 24 is ok I reckon. But each to their own, I am extremely uncomfortable in the heat but will happily live in a house at 16 degrees in the winter. But other members of our family are the opposite. Hate the cold and would happily live in Darwin. Re: How's your air conditioning coping in the heat? 24Jan 29, 2014 7:00 pm When I say 26 degrees that day time temp. Agree it needs to be 24 at night. Which ok. The ac works much better at night. It would be cheaper to run ac at 24 at night that 26 during the day. Re: How's your air conditioning coping in the heat? 25Jan 29, 2014 8:17 pm Well just checked Solar choice. At a price of just under $8000 for solar power to be installed, it may have to wait a while. This was not a premium install either. That's a long time to come close to break even point. Apart from that, we have checked our bills along with others nearby, and they are not so out of the ordinary. Around here power just seems to be expensive. The house only gets between 26-7 on 40 deg plus days!! The house only gets between 26-7 on 40 deg plus days!! A bit ironic that given you have gone to a lot of trouble to make you house as energy effecient as possible but then run ac down to 21. I challenge you to run it at 25. Does your system have inverter technology or is it basic on off. Note this is a comman theme I see in energy effecient homes. People need to start under dimension ing their ac in these homes for better performance. OR start putting large solar array's on They can do that. However it takes a lot of energy to produce solar panels. Its much easier to change user habits. Re: How's your air conditioning coping in the heat? 31Feb 03, 2014 7:44 am it's even more efficient to increase the insulation/shading over the house and not use your aircon at all but I like solar, as it's one of those things that should offset usage for 30+ years Slooowwwwly getting a Manhatten 35 in Middleton Grange Re: How's your air conditioning coping in the heat? 32Feb 03, 2014 11:58 am MR2 - As said, we would love to have solar power, however financial issues preclude this. Since some are such proponents of solar perhaps they can finance the deal for us. We would be very appreciative!! Or do you know of an supplier/installer that is reasonable and won't charge the earth to travel to N/E Vic. BStar - 21 degrees?? As the ad says "Better go to Specsavers". Read the post. This is the aircon we have. http://www.actronair.com.au/espplus I am unaware of any other system that has the same capabilities. Re: How's your air conditioning coping in the heat? 34Feb 18, 2014 10:49 pm I remember last week we visited a friends house, her Ac is on and at the same time her humidifier, the living room as well as the dining is airconditioned. I wonder why she has to turn on the humidifier, what for? the AC is cool.
