Ok - Background.... Doing a major renovation - ie. the old house roof has come off / second story added on etc etc... Did this just to save the existing ceiling roses - Yep it would have been cheaper and easier to just bulldoze the lot...
With my architect - I specifically asked all the time for hm to allow for ducted heating / cooling - as I have become used to it over 20 years, want nothing else thankyou...
So as the building commences, I start to get worried, and yep - even though the architect stated time and time again everything would be okay - as we are using Posi Struts - you can run the ducts through them no problem.
Well, in discussing my requirements with various experts - or those that have a shopfront (!!!!) - nobody wants to do the job because of the posi struts - too difficult. Or not enough space to do an install...
Now I will have to change the roof cavity a little to accomodate some extra space (we have not got the upstairs built yet - so I get one last chance to raise the roof pitch or whatever)
It just appears that nobody likes doing the difficult job - they just want to move in, install, take the cash, and run to the next job.
My question though - in some places I will have difficulty in running 600mm ducts - in these instances could I actually run 2 * 300mm - split it into two and then join them back up ?
ie; ------=======------
I understand the need for the volume of airflow, and without having a science degree of airflow, I cant see why I could not do this - surely its just like a waterpipe or hose ?
Thanks for any advice - including anybody to talk to that actually knows this stuff instead of being aused car salesman sitting behind a desk! (Northcote area in Melbourne)
Thanks
