Were you after a single system or separate ones to do upstairs and downstairs? Have you considered a multi-head system off a single outdoor unit? I know Daiken have them, not sure about Actron. Temperzone also have them available through their partnership with Hitachi. Re: Daikin v actron 3Sep 01, 2013 8:52 am Don't know about Acton, but we have had a Daikin and it was great, and economical. The Harder You Try - the Luckier You Get ! Re: Daikin v actron 4Sep 01, 2013 4:13 pm We have an Actron, 4 zones,10 outlets (split evenly upstairs/downstairs)....I turn it on for 1/2 hour every 3 or 4 months just to blow the cobwebs out, but otherwise we don't bother with it. Maybe if global warming kicks in will run it a bit more ! I keep a daily record of our solar/electric useage, and can sure see which days we have had it running. This past winter we had a little bar heater on when required (and a blanket if necessary) and last summer we used our fan a lot. Personal thing of course, but for us so far has not been of any use.... Re: Daikin v actron 5Sep 01, 2013 8:33 pm Actron is Australian made. Daikin is Japanese technology (made in Thailand these days I'm pretty sure). Daikin is better technology and is generally smaller and quieter for the same size system. But I have a soft spot for Actron being Australian made. They will both do what you need if designed and installed properly. Re: Daikin v actron 6Sep 01, 2013 8:58 pm Hi had one of the Actron zoned ducted installed in our last house before we moved. Was extremely happy with it and didn't think Daikin came close to the Actron unit for quality and technology. If you can afford it i would go the Ultima series as it allows you to manage different temp in each zone or having consistent temp in all rooms. Something I have seen just from visiting peoples houses is that the room with the control panel is the set temp while all the other rooms differ buy 3 or 4 degrees due to air flow. The company who did the install for ours wasn't actually an Actron reseller but after installing ours he actually picked them up as their main product. Something else to consider is the easy of repair if something does go wrong. +1 Actron Re: Daikin v actron 7Sep 01, 2013 9:33 pm Actron air here, love it had it set a 22 degrees in winter and it kept the house warm. Re: Daikin v actron 8Sep 01, 2013 9:39 pm As in a number of other posts re Actron, we also have it. 17 vents to 8 zones. Works very well. It is the ONLY aircon that you can be zoned to one specific zone at any one time, with the ESP+ or Ultima. This means you do not heat/cool zones that are not inhabited. It will keep whatever your desired temp, assuming you have the correctly sized system. Works perfectly. The trick is to get the installation and zoning right. Do the research on the installer. A doggy installer can destroy any good Air Con unit! Re: Daikin v actron 11Nov 01, 2013 10:02 pm Not that it adds but I am more than likely going Actron. We have over 40 sqs of living space so they have recommended two 19kw Ultimas. I think it will be awesome. I like the fact it can ramp right down as well.
