Browse Forums Heating, Cooling & Insulation 1 Aug 25, 2013 3:17 am Hi all As the above says. It's a Rinnai Inbuilt Gas Heater, model is REH-300. The room fan will randomly stop. Then safety kicks in and whole heater shuts down. Heater then starts up again but room fan doesn't start up and heater shuts off again. Have to wait till unit cools down before room fan will operate again. Doesn't always do this, will work all night no problems sometimes. I find it's usually when i switch from Hi to Lo or vice versa. Any ideas why room fan would be stopping? Cheers. Re: Gas space heater room fan stopping 2Aug 26, 2013 9:01 pm Please get this looked at by a plumber at your very earliest time, the potential for a lethal carbon monoxide release is very high. Do not mess with heaters where the safety features are triggering. @builderforlife Building inspector and passionate about construction When you need an expert to take a look. Re: Gas space heater room fan stopping 4Aug 27, 2013 10:23 pm Well the pressure switch is doing its job starts and runs every time, which it didn't do before. Now the room fan stops intermittently. But if i let it cool for 15 minutes works fine again for anywhere from all night to at minimum a few hours, not sure what's causing this new problem... Re: Gas space heater room fan stopping 5Aug 30, 2013 1:07 am I think at this point I'd be leaning towards builderforlife's suggestion to get someone in to go over it. It doesn't necessarily have to be a plumber as it's not got anything to do with the ignition side of things, a competent HVAC electrician or air conditioning service tech would be suitably qualified to investigate and diagnose. Are you in Melbourne? Re: Gas space heater room fan stopping 6Aug 30, 2013 6:57 pm Yeh in Melbourne. The problem as usual is the fault is intermittent, which in my experience is costly to 'attempt' to diagnose. I write this as the heater is running fine, room fan going again... for now haha. Re: Gas space heater room fan stopping 7Sep 02, 2013 12:49 pm Ok so at least some consistency, room fan has stopped working.. permanently. I think i am going to give up at this point i only paid a few hundred for the heater but since then have probably spend another few hundred, not really willing to spend anymore with no guarantees. I don't think it's the fan itself but probably thermo couple, or something failing to tell fan to start, probably what i would try next but i think a new thermo is prob over $100. So gas log fire here i come, anyone in eastern suburbs Melbourne do installs on these for a good price (qualified and insured)? Cheers.
