Browse Forums Heating, Cooling & Insulation 1 Aug 04, 2013 9:38 am Hi I have a rental property in Perth WA and plan to put 4 split systems, one in each room, plan to rent each room separately. I want to know if there are any devices like coin operated or rfid tag based that I can connect to a split system unit so that when the tenant wants to use the aircon they pay first. Any ideas? Thanks a lot in advance. Re: Air Conditioner Coin Operated Device 2Aug 04, 2013 10:22 am That's not a rental property, that's a boarding house! Have you run your entrepreneurial intentions by the local council? I can see some merit in your query given that electricity use would not be equally shared but the bedrooms orientation would determine which ones heat up the most. Why should someone who rents a hot room have to pay more for the disadvantage? Surely the overheads should factor for the living conditions of all on an equal basis. Why not first concentrate on checking that the "rental property" is properly insulated as this would also benefit all areas. 3in1 Supadiverta. Re: Air Conditioner Coin Operated Device 7Aug 27, 2013 7:07 pm Hi, I would look at the coin operated systems, If they have an option with a basic set of eletrical contacts them you can do it. Its acutally fairly simple but you won't find a specific air conditioner who will do it. I would go to the coin operated systems people and explain to them what you want to do. To be honest the cost savings you might make by making them coin operated might be less then if you just included it in the price. the coin operated units won't be cheap and then just a hassle to collect the money, plus people will see it as a negitive. especially if they run out of coins!
