Browse Forums Heating, Cooling & Insulation 1 Aug 02, 2013 1:10 pm Hi all, I have been reading this forum for a few months and have found a lot of information and advice given very helpful. We are building a new house in Adelaide (Hallet cove) and are wanting to put in a gas fire in our family living kitchen dining area. We are also installing a RC air conditioner. I have been to a couple of retailers and whilst the sales people are helpful, the information seems to be conflicting, and read many reviews on gas fires and have become quite overwhelmed with the information and there seems to be a lot of negative reviews. Does anyone have some advice for us please? We have been looking at the cannon fitzroy and the archer model gas fires but with the negative reviews we are not so sure. All up installed with the mock wall and external flue kits its going to cost up to $6000.(solar panels are going on the roof so we cannot put flue on roof) We don't want to make a bad decision on this and end up with more costs after the warranty expires because the unit is having issues. I would dearly love any advice, good and bad to help us make a decision. Thanks in advance. Nimah Re: Gas log fire external wall flue, new build Adelaide 2Aug 07, 2013 10:30 am You are correct in that some of those reviews are far from positive. In our upcoming build we are probably going for the Jetmaster or even better the Heat n' Glo gas log fire ( 1m wide landscape version ) A few of my clients and friends have had these installed over the last five years and while not cheap couldn't be happier with them. The thing I like about the Heat n' Glo models is that they draw the air in from the outside for the fire then expel the waste gases outside again. The air is not consumed from inside the room.
